Finland's leading RIB manufacturer has received an order for its second generation Special Operations Boats

Finnish RIB manufacturer Boomeranger Boats Oy Ltd has received an order from the Finnish Navy for its new second generation RIBs.

The 12m (39ft) boats will be based on the company's new Boomeranger RIB C-1200 hull design and customised to user requirements in accordance with the Boomeranger Special Operations Boats concept.

They will be used by the Finnish Special Forces for mission profiles such as interception, boarding, infiltration, reconnaissance, diver/inflatable/kayak delivery and combat search and rescue (CSAR), and are due for delivery in 2013.

“Currently the focus of most armed forces is in developing the special forces components in order to be prepared for future asymmetric challenges,” says Miika Tammi, VP of sales and marketing at Boomeranger. “We can see this trend also in the special operations boat market as a rapid development of requirements and anticipations.”

Boomeranger Boats is one of Northern Europe’s leading RIB manufacturers. The company, a subsidiary of Finland’s Revenio Group Corp, specialises in the design and manufacturing of heavy duty rigid inflatable boats for the professional market — mainly for search and rescue organisations, authorities and defence forces.
