The winners of the 2018 Motor Boat Awards were announced at a gala dinner at London’s Rosewood Hotel on Wednesday night.

The night was particularly rewarding for Fairline, having picked up its third award in just three months. Hugo Andreae, editor of MBY, described the UK builder as a company that has defied all expectations to achieve one of the most remarkable turnarounds of recent times.

“Just two years ago the brand was a mess; a lot of us felt this could be the end of one of Britain's best-loved boatbuilders,” he said. “Two years on and the brand is flourishing once again under new owners. It is still building boats in Britain, still investing in its rapidly growing workforce and still demonstrating that British craftsmanship is second to none. None of this would have been possible without the vision of its new owners and directors nor the commitment of its loyal workforce.”

Fairline MD Russell Currie thanked the judges for their consideration and decision, along with everyone at Fairline for their hard work. “Fairline’s golden year was definitely one to remember and we cannot think of a better way to kick start 2018,” he said.
