Local sailing veteran Morgan Evans joins Cape Town-based Boating World

South African yacht importer and broker Boating World has expanded its local sales team, the company announced today.

The Cape Town-based company has appointed veteran local sailing enthusiast Morgan Evans, who once represented South Africa at the GP 14 World Championship.

Boating World is South Africa's principle dealers for Fairline, Riviera, Sea Ray, Sunreef, Jeanneau and Fountaine Pajot.

“Morgan started sailing 27 years ago in dinghies and some of his notable achievements include representing South Africa at the GP 14 World Championship, numerous IRC nationals wins on-board yacht AL, a Farr 38, and competing successfully in the local Finn circuit,” the company said in a statement.

“His sales career started when he was just 23 years old with the re-launch of Lexus luxury vehicles in the country and after seven years at Lexus, Morgan moved on to be a successful salesman for the Mercedes-Benz brand. His passions for the world of boating, accompanied by his vast sales experience, land him in the perfect position at Boating world,” the statement said.

The company this month also confirmed its sponsorship of this weekend's Royal Cape Yacht Club Youth Regatta in Table Bay. The regatta, led by the RCYC Academy, aims to promote sailing opportunities for previously disadvantaged individuals.

“One of [the Academy's] goals is to integrate disadvantage sailors into the sport, the club and hopefully into careers and Boating World is excited to be a part of their programme,” Boating World said.
