NMMA shows 5% increase in powerboat registrations

Larger boats up nearly 9% through August

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has reported that registrations of powerboats rose 5.3% during the rolling 12-month period through August.

The report said that nearly all segments were up for the year-over-year period. Towboats were up 8.3%, cruisers 7.9%, pontoons 7.5% and personal watercraft 7.3%.

Outboards-powered boats, which represent 65% of total new powerboat sales, were up 5.2%. Registrations for boats with lengths of 27ft or larger were up 8.8% for the period.
